Some color photos from the 1971 Riverside Trans-Am courtesy of John Ryals. Thanks for sharing these with us, John.

The Penske transporter and the Javelin with a car cover on it. The championship was in hand prior to Riverside so Donohue
wasn't even there to run the car. Jackie Oliver was the fill-in driver and was told not to damage the car. It was already sold, apparently.

The two Roy Woods Javelins. George Follmer put his car on the pole.

The blue #67 Bob West Mustang and the dark red Mustang of Clay Priola in the Riverside garages prior to the race.

The orange Camaro of Joe Chamberlain, the yellow Camaro of Stan Bennett, the red Mustang of Bill Maier and the Javelin of Buzz Dyer.

Paul Jett's "Handy Andy" Camaro, the BMW's of Gerry Gregory and Don Pike, and the ex-Penske, ex-Roy Woods Camaro of Dave Dralle.

Ed Hinchcliff's blue Mustang, John Ware's orange Camaro and John Putnam's blue & green Camaro.

Lots of people wanting to check out the action in the garage area.

Photos from the start of the race, courtesy of John Ryals. That had to be quite a thrill to be right there as the cars came roaring by.
