GM racing lap belts
« on: August 11, 2012, 11:04:08 PM »
Here's a set of NOS racing lap belts fresh out of the GM box. A curious item. The 8-digit part number of 14029861 is not something that was around back in the '60s or early '70s and these belts are not found in the parts books from back then. These belts do show up in Robert Lodewyk's 1982 GM parts book however. Interesting that they have the Rupert Industries name on them, which is an old-time seat belt manufacturer. Many thanks to Robert Lodewyk for sharing these with us.

Frank Dihartce gets all the credit for this. He spotted it on eBay and mentioned it to me. When Frank says he has never seen a GM racing belt before then I know its an obscure piece. ;D
The date stamped on the belt appears to be August 1976.

Is the female half of the bucket missing, or am I not seeing it?
