Recommended chromer?
« on: December 31, 2011, 09:03:33 PM »
Hello,

Can anyone recommend a place to send out a set of 67 BB valve covers for re-chrome and actually uses copper in their process?
I may have to go that route after getting a set of repos for Christmas and finding the left side wire tower hits the washer motor and it doesn't have the slight slant end and this seems to be a problem with '67 BB Camaros as far as reproductions go.
An alternate, though maybe pricey, would be this vendor I found on eBay that has the correct style for the '67 LH side and matches mine perfectly.
http://www.ebay.com/itm/67-Camaro-Nova-BIG-BLOCK-VALVE-COVERS-396-375-325-427-454-/110740459086?pt=Vintage_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&vxp=mtr&hash=item19c8a54e4e
If re-chroming is more costlier than the above eBay item then I may have to go that route.

Thank you and have a great new year,
Mike

You might want to call and ask local platers if they use triple plating with copper. If not check out Advanced Plating out of TN they do excellent work.

I used Ogden Chrome in Ogden Utah for my bumpers - they do a very nice job with show quality chrome and they triple plate.

I have used a few and this one is the best and I mean just outstanding! Triple Plate of course! They will give you a price over the phone but when parts arrive they take a photo and send you a positive quote with the pic of what they received. You approve and they plate within two weeks. Very well run business. Sure beats when the other plater we were using was 3 to 4 months and the cost was higher.

I guess it depends on which part of the country your from. I'm sure all the ones listed above are good...I used these guys out of El Paso and I had excellent results. They were very reasonable and turn around was less than 2WKS.

The guy that did the body work and painting on my car used to build custom street rods and hand made a lot of parts that had to be chromed. He uses Custom Chrome Plating that Chick posted. They are the best in the business according to him.
