Muscle Car and Corvette Nationals Show Nov 19 & 20 in Chicago
« on: September 21, 2011, 07:24:31 PM »
The Muscle Car And Corvette Nationals has become a “ must see” car event. For details visit the website at  www.mcacn.com  Last year there were many special displays such as: Motion Built cars that included 16 cars, and a collection of 35 Hurst cars, Class of 1970 which included Hemi Convertibles, LS6 Chevelles, L78 Camaros, Judge Convertibles, W30 Olds and a host of other legendary muscle cars represented by every manufacturer. This year looks to be another great event, with the bar raised even higher. Again there are many special displays scheduled for this year. One in particular is the 1969 ZL1, of which 15 cars will be participating. Yes 15 ZL1’s will be at this show.

Our Vintage Certification team also has an amazing line up again. If you are into unrestored original time capsules, this is a must see show and line up:

1973 Trans am SD 1700 miles
1967 GTO
1968 RS/SS 9500 miles
1981 Camaro Z28 5000 miles
1966 Chevelle SS
1984 Camaro Z28 6000 miles
1970 T/A Challenger 173 miles

Our certification program is full, but this year we have added a display area exclusively for unrestored cars "Vintage Heritage Collection". Having a display area for unrestored cars allows owners of like cars to be displayed together and recognized collectively. This is a non judged area. For those interested in participating please email me at vintagecert@optimum.net or call 631-514-9765

Vintage Heritage Collection:

1969 RS/Z28 -blue
1971 Olds W30 Convertible
1965 Z16 Chevelle
1967 RS/SS Camaro
1969 RS/SS L78 – black

Based on the quality and diversity of the cars registered it will be a truly amazing event. The best part is seeing old friends and meeting new ones.

greatest show on earth. we will be there!

Sam, I will be arriving on Wed 11/16. This will allow us to set up the Vintage Certification area so that we can begin certifying cars on Thursday. Seven cars equates to 21 hours of certification/judging for our team. By starting earlier we will have evenings free to spend with you knuckleheads in the Doubletree lobby.

As Sam stated, this show will take your breath away with the quality and rarety of the cars participating. My first love is camaros, but this show is so much more. The show also invites a few of the legend who helped design, develop and promote these iconic cars back in the day.

To call this a show minimizes what it truly is an EVENT, with something for everyone. Below I pasted some of the activities planned:

 2011 SPECIAL INVITATIONAL DISPLAYS:

Class of 1971 40th Anniversary Display, Presented by The WELLLBORN MUSCLE CAR MUSEUM
Featuring more than 50 of the absolute  “Top Dog”  Muscle Cars from various manufacturers for the 1971 model year. For 2011, we will feature THREE circles; one with hardtops, one with convertibles, a third featuring LS6 Corvettes AND several additional special displays. You will be treated to some of the country's rarest and most desirable Muscle Machines which are coming in from prominent collections nationwide, many rarely shown to the public including several Hemi Cuda convertibles and the absolute rarest from GM, Ford, AMC and Mopar.

Class of '61 50th Anniversary Display:

This time we step back FIFTY years, when the concept of racing on Sunday and driving to work on Monday began. The Super Stock wars were just beginning and the Big Three were all doing battle at tracks across the country. Royal Pontiac, The Ramchargers and more were quickly becoming recognized nationwide. Check out a fine selection of big-body performance offerings from Pontiac, Chevy, Ford and Chrysler along with several significant Corvettes in this very special Invitational gathering.

Dodge Challenger T/A Reunion

When Chevrolet entered the Trans Am wars in 1967 with their all new Z/28, the whole world took notice. When Chrysler brought out their all new E-body Barracuda's and Challenger's it was clear what had to happen next. The Challenger T/A's were purpose built, multi carb small block pony cars that had many unique features. We are thrilled to host a gathering of some of the finest examples ever shown.

MOTION MADNESS II
With the incredible response we received for our 2010 gathering, we are happy to once again host a very special gathering that will showcase some of the wildest dealer-built Supercars ever to roam the streets. Joel "Mr. Motion" Rosen built the cars while Marty Schorr introduced the legend to the world with some of the most creative and eye catching ads ever seen. This is a rare opportunity to see some of the wildest and rarest muscle cars ever built. Included this year will be several "unveilings" of rarely shown freshly restored Baldwin-Motion cars

Midget Racer Mania

Here we will showcase a different kind of muscle. This interactive display will showcase a variety of these unique racers. Several of these cars will be available for the kids to "try on for size". The MCACN Team is committed to presenting a wide and interesting variety of motorized vehicles, and this will be something that is fun for the whole family.

Shelby Snakepit III:
With the overwhelming response we received for this special feature at our previous shows, The Shelby Snakepit will return with a whole new crop of Shelby's finest documented authentic creations from 1965-1970, again featuring some of the rarest and most significant shelby cobra's and mustangs ever built. Hosted by Colin Comer, noted author and Shelby historian.

Corvette Triple Diamond Showcase and Competition, Sponsored by CORVETTE CENTRAL:
Featuring a historic walk through time with the country's finest restored and original Corvettes that have already achieved NCRS Top Flight AND Bloomington Gold status. Owners will compete for the coveted Triple Diamond award, considered one of the industries most prestigious. Entrants range from 1953-2003.

sYc Supercars Showcase:
A very special gathering of authentic dealer-built Supercars from Yenko, Gibb and others. Presented by www.Yenko.net. Absolutely no “clones” or “tributes” here!

sYc Members Showcase Display:
This area features some of the coolest Muscle Cars ever assembled. You'll see documented real Muscle Machines. Presented by www.yenko.net

ZL1/COPO Invitational Display, Sponsored by CARS, Inc.

Many consider Chevy's performance related COPO cars as the most collectible muscle machines that GM ever offered and of course, the 1969 Camaro ZL1 as the ultimate Chevy Muscle Car. With only 69 of these all aluminum 427 engine beasts produced, they have become some of the most valuable and sought after American automobiles ever built. This special invitational display will feature more than a DOZEN '69 ZL1's, including the very first one built. In addition to the ZL1's you will be able to get up close and personal with the rarest COPO performance cars and their owners as we present a variety of these outrageous machines, including COPO Nova's, Chevelles, Camaro's and a very unique and historical '67 Corvette.

2nd Generation Camaro L78 Display;

When the all new 70 1/2 Camaro's were introduced in February of 1970, enthusiasts took note. With everything from the lowly 6-cylinder to the ultimate 375 horsepower 396 under the hood, these all new machines took the world by storm. As the top performance offering, the L78 396 equipped Camaro's represent some of the most desirable of all 2nd generation Camaro's and we are pleased to present TEN of the country's finest.

Additional Special Displays:

The Muscle Car & Corvette Nationals will also be playing host to several other special gatherings including the expanded Mopar Alley, presented by The Chicagoland Mopar Club and Mopar Collectors Guide magazine, the "AMC-YA" Group featuring significant American Motors cars and several additional special displays TBA.

CELEBRITY APPEARANCES:

Mr. Norm Kraus, The man behind Grand Spaulding Dodge will be in the Mr. Norms Garage display, sitting behind his original showroom desk ready to take your order! Saturday and Sunday.

Mark Stielow, Mark is the Premier builder when it comes to creating the ultimate Pro Touring car. Mark will be signing his new book and showing two of his fine creations, along with presenting several informative seminars. Saturday and Sunday.

Helen "Mrs. Fred" Gibb; Helen will be joining us in our ZL1/COPO Invitational display with her very own GIBB COPO nova, #50 of 50 built. Helen will be sharing her persoanl stories along with her photo albums with a very special look at what it was like to be Mrs. Fred Gibb of gibb chevroley, home of the ZL1 Camaro's and a variety of special COPO cars. Saturday and Sunday.

Joel "Mr. Motion" Rosen, We are honored to have Joel "Mr. Motion" Rosen as a very special guest. Mr. Motion will host our second "Motion Madness" Invitational display. Saturday and Sunday.

Marty Schorr, The marketing GURU for Motion, acclaimed author and past Editor of CARS magazine will be joining our "Motion Madness" Invitational to talk about the way it was, back in the day and also what he is up to now. Saturday and Sunday.

Dennis Pittsenbarger; As host of Hot Rod Magazine Radio, Dennis is living his dream, travelling throughout the country talking about cars with some of the coolest people ever; Car Folks! Dennis will be broadcasting LIVE at the show Saturday and also taping for future segments both Saturday and Sunday.

Tony DeLorenzo, Acclaimed Corvette Racer, Mr. DeLorenzo raced several significant L88's back in the day and he has returned to the tracks with the exact 1967 L88 Corvette that he raced in '67. He is a legend in the race world and we are honored to have him join us Saturday and Sunday.

Jim Mattison, Jim is known world-wide for his Pontiac Historical Services, but he also played a key role in COPO programs and the ZL1 "back in the day." Jim will host several seminars about the COPO program and will also share some great stories about his personal experiences with many interesting personalities and what it was like spending time behind the wheel of  ZL1's in 1969.

Sound like a great event. Why are all the hi end car shows back east? Well that's the price I pay for living on the west coast. In a few years when I can retire I'll be able to hit all of those big car shows. Until then I'll just live off all the stories and pictures the rest of you post on this site. I will tell you I get jealous. Thanks, and keep the info. coming.

This show is a little over two weeks away with over 500 show cars registered. I believe there are 18 or 20 ZL1's that will be attending. Over 200 vendors with a huge for sale car corral as well.

Our Vintage Certification program is full, but this year we have added a display (non judged) area exclusively for unrestored cars "Vintage Heritage Collection". Having a display area for unrestored cars allows owners of like cars to be displayed together and recognized collectively. If you know someone with an unrestored car please let them know as we have only two slots available.  For those interested participating please email me at vintagecert@optimum.net

Vintage Heritage Collection:

1971 Olds W30 Convertible
1965 Z16 Chevelle
1967 RS/SS Camaro
1969 RS/SS L78 Black
1969 RS/Z28 Lemans Blue
1969 Chevelle Lemans Blue
1970 Boss 302 Very Early Production

Every year the bar gets set higher and higher for this show. Based on the quality and diversity of the cars registered it will be a truly amazing event. The best part is seeing old friends and meeting new ones. Visit the website for details at www.mcacn.com
