Right turn signal bulb in dash.
« on: July 05, 2011, 03:06:21 PM »
  Hello,
On a 1968 convertible, what is the best method to replace the right turn signal bulb in the dash board? I removed all the screws in the panel holding the speedometer and fuel gauge. This panel doesn't seem to pull out far enough to get at the bulb without disconnecting the harnesses and speedometer cable on the back side which I don't want to do unless absolutely necessary.
Am I making this a bigger job than necessary or is there a way of getting to it from the back side?
   Thanks

Think you are making it too complicated.  When mine needed replacing, I reached under & behind the instrument cluster, & just twisted the lamp socket until it disengaged.  Pulled it out, stuck a new bulb in the socket, an reinstalled (by twisting).

You don't want to pull out the pod.  Do like JS said, reach in behind.  To pull out the pod you have to lower the steering column and loosen and unhook a lot of stuff.
