69 Z28 RS history

After raising a family, getting kids though college and doing all the things a family man needs to do, I figure its time for Dad to have his time of fun. So I am ready to start the restoration on my Z28 that I purchased 35 years ago.  But B4 I start, I was hoping to find out some history about it. I dont have alot to go on. I purchased from a salvage yard that is no longer in business so going to them is not going to help. Strike one.  I then tried my state DMV to try and find any previous owners and they tell me I am the only name showing on the title. Strike TWO. Before I strike out, perhaps someone out there can help. Its a 1969 Z28 RS. Burgundy in color with white strikes. Built in the 1st week of December at the Norwood plant. Number 9N554959. Guessing car was delivered/purchased in the upper Midwest; MN, SD, ND? Would be fun to know about its past B4 I start. By the way, great site. You have help me answer some questions about the car truly being what it is. Thanks

About the only chance you have of learning anything is an NCIC search. That usually reveals the sellling dealer on the Manufacturers' Statement of Origin. IF you learned that AND the dealer was still in business AND happened to keep useless records for 42 years you're in business.

NCIC used to be a fairly routine request for anyone in law enforcement but no longer I hear.
Learning more and more about less and less...

Does anyone know if an NCIC search can be conducted by local Law Enforcement, or would we have to contact NCIC in Clarksburg, West Virgina?

Its the possibility of finding the selling dealer that sparked my interest...

I am pretty sure you have to have a law enforcement case# or the like to get the info...

It's NICB and I tried to have a Florida State Fire Marshall that I personally know run my car and he stated without a case number he could not do it.   If anyone has access to NICB please let me know. 
I also believe it has been previously posted about NICB.

I recently read through the revised code for my state and "if you were a garage owner and had a vehicle in storage for which you had not been paid, which was not titled in the state, and you "didn't know to whom it belonged" then the magistrate is required to run a NICB. There are ways to have things done, get creative.
