'68 carb on a '69 build?
« on: October 24, 2010, 08:26:48 PM »
Stormy California day; been out playin' in the garage. ;D
I have a Norwood built ( 05D ), everything seems to check out except that front engine pad (reference here) http://www.camaros.org/forum/index.php?topic=7199.0
Block is a 010 with a D 28 9 cast date
Intake is a 3927184 with a D 28 9 cast date
POP says carb source was Carter , which it is. The roll stamp says  7028212 with a M7  DH. I take that to mean a 1968 application for a 327/275 and 350/295 ; built in DEC 1967.

I believe this carb to be original to the car...but is that possible or within build " norms"? Could A Carter Quadrajet built in Dec. '67 been put on a car built in May '69?? I know engine line didn't care...broadcast said DH, they put a DH...next. Any thoughts or information welcomed.

Nope. That carburetor isn't original to the car with a build date 17 months prior to the car's assembly date; might be worth something to someone with a '68.

Thanks JohnZ.
I know the engine was rebuilt in the late '70's , not sure if carb was touched but apparently it was. Need to ask my Uncle a few more questions I see. All I know for sure is anything rebuilt or changed in that rebuild was for functionality not originality and most everything was reused. So would that fall under " dumb luck " that they replaced it with a original Camaro, Carter built, carb instead of a service model, or 70's model or something out of a Chevelle or Nova??  DH is strictly a Camaro app, right?

I don't know - don't have any charts showing broadcast codes and specific carline applications.
