Item # 330407044697 listed as a 68 z/28, BUT, the block is #3970010 and a 2 bolt. The book says a 3970010 is a 69 and a 4 bolt?
? Don't know the block date code.

That block was made with two and four bolt mains. Did you notice the flat top pistons?

Semantics, the seller never states this short block is an original '68 302. He just says it's a 302 that was removed from a '68 Z/28. Here's his exact description...
"
Up for auction is a 302 short block chevy that came out of a 1968 Z-28. This is freshly re-builded bored 30 over TRW pistons balance and blue printed. Block number 3970010.

"re-builded"

It isn't even a 302. Look at the rear crankshaft flange.
a common large journal "010" car engine block (available from late '69 through the late 70's) with an orphan 307/327 cast iron crank does not make for a '68 302 no matter how much lipstick you put on that pig.
