just wanted to thank all of you who responded to my request for a simple picture of an existing 1969 Z-28 tilt steering column.

Dan,

what was the outcome of your solicitation?   Is the 'lock' text on the tilt wheel different or not?  (from the non-tilt wheel?)...

I was being sarcastic, no one bothered to answer.

well..  actually you had two different postings, in two different sections.   I did reply to your other post.. I'm curious if the pix I showed you is consistent with what you have...

revdan49,

Sorry I missed your request.  Attached are pics of the tilt column from my 69Z.  When I restored my car over 10 years ago, I did not have a digital camera at the time and took all 35 mm pictures.  So the attached pics are digital pics of my print pictures.

I was going to rebuild my original column, but I was money ahead buying a rebuilt original unit versus buying the parts and special tooling required to rebuild my original.

I hope this helps.

69Z28-RS,

I do appreciate your reply and pictures. I got three pictures, one showing the two columns side by side, one showing the base and coupler. and one showing the middle of the column. I really need a picture of the key area of an original steering column, showing the raised word "lock" and its relationship to the key itself.
By the way, do you still have the old tilt column ?

revdan49,

Unfortunately, I no longer have the old column.  I need to check but I am not sure I can get access to the area you need a picture of with the column in the car.

You have three threads going on the same topic!  I just merged two of them. Give people a couple of days to respond. Not everyone has a tilt column.

Sure looks like these pics by 69Z28-RS address your question. ??

revdan49,

I have been traveling out of own on business for the past three weeks.  This Easter Holiday weekend I will have some time to get a picture of the area on the column you are referring to.  I now recall the area you are talking about.
