68 ss hood louvers

The factory gasket is just a sponge foam gasket that has a sticky side to it and it sticks to the louver.  I've seen people pay big $ for them on eBay.  You can just use the stuff they sell at the hardware store for doors & windows, get the stuff that's 3/8" wide and your all set.

Are the gaskets black, gray, or what color?  Tamraz says they have them for 8.95 each plus shipping.  Funny that the Goodmark ones did not have the gaskets and did not mention that they were needed.  There was some of the foam on one side of the bezel but on the ones we have I think that was just to go between the louver and the mesh.  I don't think they were on the outside part of the louver.

Gaskets should be black.  Nothing mounts on the outside of the louver, the gasket sticks to the underside outer rim of the louver, then screen, then backing plate, then hood.  Don't think it's really meant to seal as their just ornaments but more to keep things from rattling around.  If the ones you have have the foam on the bottom of the louver already you don't need anything else.  If you have your assembly manual it's page 287.

OK, thanks.  I thought there was a gasket that went between the louver and the hood, but maybe that is just on the "oil cooler" style or maybe I am just wrong altogether.   Thanks.
