Strange Stamp on Firewall...
«

Hey Guys,
What is the strange stamp on the firewall below the hidden VIN under the heater ducting? These numbers are VERY hard to read. They are upsidedown just like the hidden VIN.
These are the two numbers I've found in two cars. "R L48" and "R XorZ23"
The 68 that has the R L48 is an original SS and the L48 is an SS RPO.
The 68 that has the R XorZ23 is a Deluxe Interior car...if it is Z23...that's also an RPO.
Are these just coincidences that they may relate to RPO's of the cars they are stamped on?
Thanks,
Tony Huntimer

They metal part stamping dates when the stamping factory did the run of that part. Not much to decode, but if you are proving original sheetmetal, the stamping have to be close. I have found them on the trunk floor, qtrs, trunk and firewall peices.
