Flattening Paint ..PPG Urethane
« on: February 24, 2009, 02:01:10 AM »
Q1. Has anyone formulated the PPG Urethane paint with the flattener to get 30% gloss and 60% gloss????
Q2. Did the 67 dash top get suede paint like the 69 or just flattened?
Q3. Would 30% gloss be the same as 70% flat??

If no one has done this I will do it but what a pain it will be  :-[ , where should I find samples to match???? (maybe donations :-\ )

Thanx
Buddy

I spray ppg concept single stage alot. They can mix the paint to the gloss you want. The gloss can also be controlled by the amount of thinner and the temp of the thinner. I have two different formulas that work great .It took me awhile to get it right, but now it is easy to spray it . I will get the numbers of the formulas for you and the mix ratios.    John    Allouez Restorations

Hello Buddy, the paint codes are 9440 is the flattest and 9469 is about 80 percent gloss. To controll the gloss more reducer =less gloss. The mixing instructions are 3 paint 1 reducer .5 hardner. For the 9469 mix it 3 paint 1.5 reducer .5 hardner. It comes out to about 60percent gloss. Let me know how it turns out.    John  Allouez Restorations    p.s.  use 870 reducer

Also longer flash times between coats = less gloss.  John
