So who all is using Dynamat sound heat and vib mats???
Anyone using other brands???

Man are them things pricy.

Look like everyone sell the same basic stuff, those that sponsor racing and have adds on TV just charge out the BLEEP for it............ Also a friend who got dynamat form summit just the other day the salesmen said the price will be going up here soon.

Just hard to spend that much but want some comments.

And do you really need that $15 seam tape???

Not sure you'll get too many answers on this one - this group tends to be more original oriented.

I did see on Team Camaro (IIRC) that some guy found a roofing material that was the same and much cheaper.

Dynamat seems to be the only material that has consistent feedback from people who use it . I have put it in two of my cars and man does it make a differnece.

The other products .. you here about odor , some guys have put other brands in the car only to have it all come lose or get greasy .

I found the big boxes on ebay for around 100 dollars. if you search on ebay you can find good deals

So, what is the difference between them all?  Is Dyanmat, which seems to be the most popular, better, or thicker or whatever, against Smittymats, which seem cheap?  Has anyone out there done an actual side by side comparison?  I have seen articles on Dynamat, and the praise of the product, but how does it compare to the others?  I don't mind paying a few dollars more (okay, so I really do), if the item I get is actually better.  But i don't want to pay twice as much if I am getting the same result.  Any opinions from anyone that has used more than one of these items?

I am getting ready to install acousta mat. It comes in a kit formed and measured. I ordered it for my 69 convertible Camaro. Cost about 500 bucks but I here well worth it. We'll see, I hope so.

I just ordered and received "BXT RAAMat" to install in my 68 Convertible.  I looked at a lot of different materials but this one seemed to be the best value.  I will post pictures as soon as I get it installed if anyone is interested.  The price was about 3rd of Dynamat and it looks a lot like Dynamat except it comes in a roll.  Check out the following web site..

On the Lateral -G site and Protouring site there are in depth discussions about this subject... all I can tell you is that it is a ot of work to do it right . I used a little wood roller , the handle of a screw driver and a blow drier on occassion, to install Dyanamat....

Personally you hear a lot of people praise different products then you will hear someone say that same product didn't work for them . Dynamat was the only one that everyone said worked great but the big complait was the price. I went through this about two or three years ago so maybe something has changed but these are good sites to use the search function and do your homework

I used to be a roofing contractor and I used a commercial roofing product that was called modified bitumen torch grade smooth.   The torch grade meant it had asphalt impregnated into the polyester mat.  The smooth meant it did not have the ceramic granular surface, which is the same as you would see on shingles.  I ordered vehicle underlayment kits from four different suppliers, including Rick's and NPD out of curiosity to see what they used and what I have received is either this exact stuff or the thinner non torch (no asphalt) material that was cut into the pattern of the OEM underlayment.  However, you can get this stuff at any roofing supply house for about $35 for a roll that is about 33' long and 3' wide (about 100 sq. ft.).  It does not have the foil backing, but I have heard that the stuff for up north and for trailer homes is similar but does have the foil back.  Since I was a roofing contractor in Florida, I did not get into the "ice dam" roofing materials nor did I do mobile homes or trailers.  Hope this info helps.

I use rool roofing for trailer homes .It has a mat of asphalt with aluminum sheet on one side .It's a quarter the price and the same as the other stuff .Same weight as the factory deadner but alum. instead of the paper .
