Trunk Lid Seal

Where does the trunk seal seam join together, the front(by the back window) or at the back(where the lock is) Ive seen both, Thanks

They were never at the top by the back window. Cars with  orig ones are usally to the left of the trunk latch

On unrestored cars with original trunk seals there is usually an orange mark on the trunk seal... denoting the center... on the car's trunk lip there was a hash mark to the right of center... align the orange mark on the hash mark and insert the seal... when done the seal will meet to the left of the trunk latch...

You can't see the hash mark on the jamb in the photo but the orange mark is clear...

Sorry, I couldn't resist. I hope the people putting the seam up top don't also do their own roofing. I've seen survivors with the seam justified to the right, or in the center but these are minor variations that exist in various aspects of assembly. No?

Yes, there were variations - my original 02D Norwood '69 Z/28 has the joint centered on the latch.

Most, but not all join at the back side to the left of center.

Thats the way I have always done it, but I have seen them at the top at a couple of car shows and could not understand why, so I had to ask this dumb Question in case I completly missed something.  But Thanks Very Much for all the info.
