« on: January 26, 2006, 01:18:32 AM »
Hi guys I am new to this forum so bare with me. I have a 69 z/28 that came complete when I bought it 10 years ago. I have decoded it by using the CRG site and it has been helpful. I would like to know if my 302 is the original motor that came with this car back in 69. I don't understand the date codes like I should. I can't seem to find the partial vin by the oil filter but I haven't had the block dipped yet. All of the info I have, is listed below. I would greatly appr. any help!!

VIN# 124379N697870                                      ENGINE                                                 HEADS 3927186

On most 69 blocks it is very difficult to see the VIN stamping. Here is a 69 Z28 block with a partial VIN of 19N685913. You can make out the numbers if you look long enough. Good luck seeing yours.

#'s look OK.
1st week of Oct (1969) car. Engine assembled 10/03. 3.73 posi built 10/07. Both dates look fine. I'd have to see a pic of the engine pad to tell if it's original.
What's the stamped code off of the transmission?

Thanks for the info guys. I will check out the trans code when I get it back. Just happy to hear that the date codes make sense.
