'68 327/275 Air Cleaner Snorkel

Does anyone know if the L30 snorkel is supposed to be smooth, or have the "therm thing" on it? Through my searching this site and others, I've seen photos of original L30s with the therm unit on it. But, the AIM doesn't show one that I can find. I'm not doing a 100 point show car restoration, but would like to have the correct air cleaner if possible. Thanks in advance for any responses...Brian

I posted the same question over at Team Camaro and got it answered. The "smooth" snorkel was on manual transmission cars, and the ThermAC unit was mounted on the snorkel for automatics. All of the air cleaner photos I could find in the AIM showed the smooth snorkel. I finally found the ThermAC on a snorkel on page 345 of the '68 AIM. As always, thank you, Brian
