Check the assembly manual as it shows the correct width and location of the stripes. If you don't have one, I can post a copy of the page later today for you...........RatPack............

Heres a pic of a 69 6-cyl car with them. These stripes are definately orig. Sorry it's the best pic I have of original stripes.

John, Was it possible to delete the D96 pinstripes on a '69 Style Trim car?

I don't know - might have been possible under a Special Paint request; William may be able to shed some light on that one.

Possible, yes.
Likely? Definitely not. Someone might think to delete the "big" stripes, but most people didn't even know if the car would have the pinstripes (kinda like this discussion. :)), much less delete them. The dealer could just remove them like they did for the pace car decal installation.

Here is a pretty good picture of a 69 SS 350 with the pinstripes, I believe it is from a 1969 ad:

Kurt is there something wrong with that particular picture? I was hoping to copy the pinstripe from that to my 69 SS 350.

I know GM did some "crazy" things with the publicity photos, like Z/28 stripes on a SS badge car, wrong rear deck lid stripes on Z/28's etc etc.

What Kurt is referring to is the D90 hockey sticks & D96 pinstripe combo, plus the enlongated hockey stick going down to the fender extension. Generally you will not see the D90 hockey sitcks with the D96 pinstripe option, but it did happen. My old 69 Carolina Blue SS had both stripes, original paint. Same goes for the DX1 & D96 combo, but there is a 6cyl here locally with original paint Burnished Brown with the DX1 and pinstripes. As for the stripe continuing down to the fender extension, I have only seen a handful of cars done that way. I don't remember the build date exactly, but I had a Fathom Green SS with original paint on the right fender and extension, and the stripe was on the extension as seen in the ad above. As for the pinstripe being deleted, what about the Yenko cars? The picture of them in the holding lot shows a Hugger Orange car with the white pinstripes. Did he remove them when doing his sticker and emblem conversion? What about the other Style Trim COPO's he received, did they have the pinstripes when he received them? .....................RatPack.....................

Interesting, so generally the cars with the D90 sticks did not get the D96 pinstripes, I will leave the D96 out of my car then.

I am getting close to painting the pinstripes on my 67 RS, what are the dimensions?
Are the two thin lines the same width?  1/8'' and separated by a 1/8'' gap?

Thanks

The '67 A.I.M. shows the upper Z-21 stripe as 1/16", separated by 1/8" from the lower stripe, which is 3/32".
