molded hood pads
« on: February 13, 2008, 02:41:33 PM »
Were molded hood pads originally installed on Camaros?  Or was the original hood pad the soft style?

I guess more clearly...molded hood pads - correct or incorrect?

Thanks

Thanks I read that thread...It really addresses which reproduction pad is more accurate which implied that any hood pad equipped 1st gen Camaro would have a molded pad but does not clarify if all three years are the same and whether or not there were productions variations (that is was a soft pad ever installed).

I ask as I was challenged by someone who stated that no GM cars from the 60's were equipped with molded hood pads.  Before telling them they were wrong Iw as trying to verify my facts.

It's part of the SS package...I had thought RS too.  I don't know for sure how else it could be ordered with a car.  Perhaps someone else will chime in?

I believe the hood insulation was available only as part of RPO Z87, Custom Interior Package.

I thought it was standard on the ZL2 (cowl hood) as well.

I see it there...it was not in the white book (circa '85).  It does show up in the SS option.   So I wonder if  it is in the Z87 or not (not that I doubt the folks at CRG just that when one has only two reference points and they differ one has to look for support for one or the other position)..

So, only three way to get this from the factory...SS, RS or Z87?

No, not with Z22 rally sport, not part of that package.
