The photo below is a '63 Corvette having its windshield glass sealed to the weatherstrip, but it shows a typical sealer flow nozzle that was used on the sealer deck at Van Nuys and Norwood for applying body seam sealer. The sealer was applied to the joint with the gun, and was then brushed or dressed with a nylon tool. In the case of the cowl tag, the operator probably just put a blob in the hole in each rivet, and didn't do anything else unless an excess was applied, in which case it was dressed.
