trunk spatter painted before or after balast installation

Did the trunk get spatter painted before or after the convertible weight balast were installed?

The trunk was painted after the shakers were installed. I have seen unrestored cars with splatter paint on the shakers.

The shakers were installed after the trunk was painted. They were hung in the trunk, painted with the trunk, and then installed.
The bolts will not have splatter paint on them. :)

Kurt is correct - if the shakers had been final-installed in Paint, they would have blocked access to install the rear marker lights, taillight housings, and outer bumper bolts; they were final-installed in position in the Trim Shop after those items were assembled.

That solves the mystery as to why the shakers had paint. Thanks for clearing that up.
