Factory Correct Window Cranks for 1968 Base-Model Camaro Coupe
« on: December 27, 2023, 12:06:50 AM »
Hi First Gen Camaro Experts -

I'm trying to get my 68 Camaro base-model coupe with a standard black interior ready for judging recheck at the Concourse level.  The judges dinged me for having aftermarket window cranks.  I've since purchased some NOS window cranks (GM part #20322800) but they don't seem to be an exact match to my original (and very pitted) window crank that was on the car back in 1968 with GM part #9717838.  For example, I've noticed there's a small indentation in the center of the black knob and no space between the knob and the window crank stem.  On the NOS window crank, there no indentation in the knob's center and a noticable space between the knob and stem.  I've attached a few photos to illustrate the differences. Would the concourse judges accept the NOS window cranks with GM part # 20322800 or will I need to find some window cranks with GM part 9717838 in excellent shape (very difficult) or get some average-good shape cranks rechromed, if that's even possible.  I'm hoping that someone knowledgable with this issue would be able to provide some guidance/expertise.  Many thanks in advance.  gwp4

If you go to my build thread I have a lot of information concerning original knobs. I took my knobs off, had the handles re-chromed and installed knobs back on.
