Part shown in AIM but no number
« on: November 07, 2023, 05:33:26 AM »
For my 68 the top alternator bracket (6 cylinder) is shown also for 67 and 69, but no part number called out. The non power steering bracket for a smog pump, and with ps and smog is different too, and they have part numbers. Now confused and wonder why the bracket never got put back on. #9 is not the part, but the one behind it is. The other ones all have numbers. If someone finds it listed in the AIM, I would appreciate it. If not, I’m still confused. Lil help please.

Generally if a "part" is illustrated in the AIM without a 'Item' Callout Number & associated Part Number:
It is part of the Next Higher assembly, as in supplied with the motor from the Engine manufacturing plant.

I thought so too Indy, and I think the bolt that holds the bracket to the engine uses a water pump hole, which would make sense.

67 AIM shows part of engine assembly. If your car did not have smog the part # is 3838444. That was in my 1969 parts book. Hope this helps.

Same here, and I got one today, it measures up to the dimensions in the parts book, and mocks up well. I’ll have to remove a water pump bolt to install-which makes sense of why it’s part of and not called out I suppose. We’ll see.

Mocked it up…looks good. I have to remove a water pump bolt, which makes sense.
