Jerry MacNeish books selling for crazy money !!!
« on: March 24, 2023, 08:22:09 PM »
Is Jerry MacNeish's books out of print? Some people are asking 1500.00 and 1300.00 for 2nd edition books. Vince

That "ask" does not seem real or reasonable.

Pubs are at the 4th edition.

I just texted Jerry a few days ago. I asked if he had a secret stash. He said nope, all gone. Danny

Yeah, I don't get that. Asking and getting are two different things though. Just contact Jerry to get the best price for his books if he has any in stock.

Back in the early ‘90’s when I started working on my ‘66 Chevelle & ‘69 Camaro RS, I tried to acquire every relevant reference book I could lay my hands on.

The attached picture is jus a few of the one’s I acquired and they were invaluable in terms of basic education with regard to my Camaro.

Yes, now we know that some of the information in these books needs updating but they were sure a big help to me.

Although today we have the Internet, I highly recommend having these in your library - if you can find them.

If they save you from restoring something incorrectly and then fix it, or save you from buying a part that is incorrect for your application - then they are well worth it. The cost virtually doubled between the 69 Manual and the 67/68 Manual. We did not cut any corners in printing the manuals. Spiral binding is all labor intensive but so much better for the restorer than the hard binder.  Plus the quality of the paper that does not smudge easily

Pace—from your last post about regarding best Camaro books.

“We thought we did a great job with the 1969 manual. We chose not to duplicate block casting #'s, alternator #'s etc which were readily available elsewhere.  We put more into the 67/68 manual for photos”

Not printing any available information IS cutting corners, because anyone who is looking to get everything as correct as possible for their beloved Camaro is relying on that Judging Manual and no other documentation. Every bit of available correct information should be there….including 6 cylinder powered cars.

I agree! I purchased a new 6th edition 68/69 Corvette judging @ Corvette Carlisle and could not believe how it's changed from not that many years ago. From the 3rd edition it's probably 3X thicker and pictures are colored vs. earlier black and white. Quite a manual for NCRS members $80.
The bar keeps going up as we continue to learn.

Several years ago Jerry told me that he was working on a new edition of the 69 version. Wonder if he's still planning on one?
