My car made Motortrend/HotRod
« on: September 12, 2022, 03:15:36 PM »
If any over you are on Facebook Camaro pages,  I am sure you saw it.  But I thought I would post it here as well. The car made it cause the way it was found and I am working on it and one day hope to have it done as it should be.

I been getting a lot of comments saying it's not worth doing, or I should re-body the car but I am not going to do that. This is my dream car and it will get done the way it should be done.  I do not need to hear I will have more money in it then its worth when I am done. But it's not about the money. It's fir the love of this beautiful classic.

This is my 68Z Mountain find.

Good luck with your restoration!  :)

In 1974, I bought an all -original '68 Z28 in the same colors (for $1000)... drove regularly and worked on it until 1976 when I traded it for the '69 Z28/RS that I still have today.   That '68 ran like a scalded dog!  but would jump out of 4th gear when I let off on it at speed... :)

Thank you. I know  the 68 used a Muncie shifter and they were junk. When the car was found it had a Hurst Shifter, and a Sun Tach in it. I got a new chrome cup for the tachometer,  and done got the Hurst shifer restored.  I hope to send the Tach out and have it check before it is back in the car. My 1st car was a UU code SS 68, and I always wanted a Z28 like it. Was never a big fan of the 69.

Read the article and nice find especially the paperwork. I know Jeff Boone well as he lives somewhat close and glad he could assist. He's quite a car guy and is knowledgeable. Document everything with pictures of what you have. If car came with spoiler option please look under the Valance for screw remnants as front spoilers were just screwed to the valance for most of the 68 model run.
