1969 deluxe door panel problems
« on: July 09, 2021, 03:00:25 PM »
I posted this question on the Yenko site but haven't got any responce. I know not everybody goes there...so. Please take a look. Thank you, Joe

I didn't buy reproduction door panels for the Camaro because I hear they don't fit real good. People have had to use heat guns to change the angle of the top of the door panel. That being said, I sent my originals to Al Knoch to be redone fiquring they came off this car, they should fit....right? Wrong. The problem is the top just like the ABS type except these are the fibre board. Has anybody else had this problem after having them redone? Any help please?

I bought a new set of Orange deluxe door panel from Al Knoch for my Z11. The fit was perfect. Absolutely no issues. My old ones had speaker holes cut in them.

I just spoke to Elliot Knoch & he told me to put them out in the sun so they would re-form themself when I installed them. It's a little hot here so I'm checking them once in a while to make sure they don't go up in flames :)
I'll report back later...Joe

Having fir with mine and plan to trim the foam blocks and heat up the panels to get them fitting this week. With upper 80 to 90 degree temps, I'll leave these outside for a day without any fear of them self-igniting.

Hope to hear you are now winning with your fitment Joe?

Not winning. Thanks for asking. They were in Tucson sun for many hours before installing them. Once they cooled down they returned to the way they were before. Joe

I reluctantly bought a pair of Al Knock deluxe door panels for my 69, after I could not get my originals to fit correctly. To my surprise, they fit nearly perfect. My doors close effortlessly with the new door panels and latex door weather stripping. I was told they did a recent revision to the door panels to make the fit better. I am very happy with the fit and appearance.

Joe,

Were you able to resolve the issues with the door panels? Did you buy repos? If so how did they fit? Thanks Paul
