1968 Camaro Z/28 with white arrow mark.. Factory?
« on: July 16, 2021, 06:26:29 PM »
This is a carry over post from the discussion on '68 Z/28 Battery Ground Strap Location...

I guess you are right, I don't know for sure. The car had one owner for a year and 3 or 4 months. He purchased the car off the dealership lot where he was a mechanic. His wife got pregnant and they already had 2 children and couldn't fit another in the back seat. So they sold the car. He died a few years ago. Why would HE pull the battery and randomly chalk an arrow? Probably still had the original battery.

Second owner had the car for 48 YEARS! Only drove the car 1,683 miles in 43 years 3 months and 10 days of those 48 years. Other years the car was driven quit extensively racking up thousands and thousands of miles before being parked. Car sat for 17 years then was driven for a day or two, then sat another 17 years. He is alive and well in his mid 70's, and I have talked to him several times. He said he put less than 100 miles on the car in 34 years. And HE didn't randomly paint an arrow.

Third owner drove the car a few 100 feet in a couple years. On and off trailer. Car barely ran, many leaks brakes all needing repairs etc. Was a flip purchase. He didn't randomly paint an arrow.

I am the 4th owner and noticed it during one of my cleaning and detail jobs.

SOOOO ... I am going to call it factory for now. ... Danny

Even if it is factory, which I have my doubts, I don’t think it means much.

Factory, I would venture due to mfr variance the Upper Pass Bolt (Alignment of Rad bracket hole to Weld nut on support) was not able to be quickly installed when the Rad was mated to support and they flagged it for the repair line could that have been a possibility, probably a grease pencil (China Marker).

Holy Cow that Car looks UNTOUCHED from the Photo- Finishes, appearance etc. & Dannys Explanation of low low miles

Yes Jim it's been alot of fun detailing this car. I have HOURS and HOURS in it. But I really do enjoy the end results so I push for more. Here is under the battery tray area before and after. I also waxed that whole area. Danny

Bryon,
I get it but it must mean SOMETHING. Not saying it's some great value increaser. But someone put it there for a reason to point something out. This car has MANY things like this. Look at this writing under the hood. Who put it there and when and what does it mean? 2 cars on the line both the same color so they say do this to #2. Or #2 gets this option? Or two cars on the dealership lot both the same color, so they marked them. So they could say take him for a ride in #2. That way all the sales people know what that means. This car has marks all over it.   Danny

It's really nice to see the differences in the original radiator and the rad support - I see the light colored paint on the UH on the rad tag too ;)
The primer overspray on the hood underside is beautiful to see.

Don’t get me wrong, it’s a cool car.

Interesting to see all the markings. Keep posting! It’s good stuff.
