Rochester 2 Jet Carburetor Spring
« on: April 23, 2021, 02:04:52 AM »
Hi Camaro Experts -

I need some help fellow Camaro drivers.  I have an original 2 bbl Rochester carburetor 2 Jet 7028101 C8 CG (see attached photo) and am looking to replace the spring in the attached photo.  Does anyone know where I might find one (original or aftermarket) or have one for sale?  The car is a standard base model 1968 Camaro with a 327/210 hp SB 3-spd no ac.  Many thanks.  Tommy68

What you need is a P/N 3923504 (see item #2 below), which was used on ALL 1968 cars and trucks with a 307 or 327 with 2bbl carb (except W/Powerglide), and all 1969 Nova V8 engines (except 396 or Powerglide). There's some conflicting information in the P&A's as to the color, so it was either brown or light blue, but the overall free length was 4.875 inches with 40 coils.

Note that it was replaced by P/N 492683 in December of 1981, but that part isn't the same design as the original 3923504.

In my collection of carb springs (I too have a 2bbl Rochester on a 327 base w/Powerglide in my 69 Camaro) I thought I might have what you are looking for.  This one is close, tension “feels” about right, but Ed mentioned a 40 coil spring and this one is closer to 55 coils.  I have no idea what it came off of.
