New tag for registry
« on: April 12, 2007, 02:58:52 AM »
looked at a Pace car today...just wondering if it is in the data base. Currently located in Lakewood, CO was in Missouri from at least 1986 - till 2006.

ST 69 12467 NOR27145 BDY
720 50A PNT
02D Z11

Vin 124679N611941

One question....where the rivets are on the cowl tag seem to have been drilled. The collar of the rivets are there, but the centers are missing. You can see through the firewall where the rivet centers are suppose to be filled in. Anything questionable here?

Additional info on the car:

Non-matching 350.
Tilt wheel
No gauge cluster on console
no clock
badged 350
car is a low 4 or possible 3 high 3, (was parked in a "barn" since 1986)
Proportion valve is on frame rail under driver side door
No tag on radiator
Multi - leaf rear - 10 bolt
Cowl induction flapper system missing
Missing lower reverse lights, (might have new sheet metal there - pretty rusty)

Sounds like a butchered car to me.  I would stay away from it.

Nope, nothing on that one.
Can you repost the NOR #? It's missing a digit.
What trans did it have? Almost sounds like it could have been a powerglide car, if that axle is original.

Thanks!

I must have missed one writing it down.  The guy said he will email me the photo of the CT.  I am more interested in the appearance of the Cowl Tag....interesting with the missing centers of the rivets....the tag was also pretty clean for its age and the condition of the rest of the car.  I will post if and when he emails me.

There was no "center" to the original rivets - they were hollow tubular rivets; that's why they had a glob of sealer applied when they were installed, to keep engine compartment fumes out of the air intake plenum behind them.

Are these rivets easy to fake today, or are they a type from the past which makes it harder to fake them?

Do a search on eBay and see how many hits you will get on cowl tag rivets.
