That is one nice foot print of a basement. How many cars do you have in there?

six or eight..  I forget..   too crowded to work, so I'm in the process of moving a few to my son in law's new garage ..

Gary ,  I have to ask : Was it difficult getting your Z down the basement steps ??  

 Jano, as you know, if one disassembles a car down into enough small parts, nothing is difficult..

Or..  you can build the basement, drop the cars in, then build the house around/over it??

OR... you might have a 'drive in basement'..  as I do ..  (or sometimes, push in.. push out..  basement..)  
(the last photo is where I pushed it out one day, gave it a washing, then pushed it back in.. )  is this a 'garage find'?  *I* found it where I left it...

Not trying to hi-jack thread, but you reminded me of a car I knew of 'back in the day' around 83 or so. One of my close friends had connections with the parts manager of a local Chevy Dealer, Campbell County, Alexandria, Ky. He got me a lot of my NOS parts. Anyway, he had a complete NOS 69 Z in his basement. I think he went through the parts book everyday at lunch and ordered every part he could for the car. He had the body and everything in the basement all on shelves like a mini Chevy dealership. He got a divorce and needed to sell car. I could have bought it for I think $3000, but newly married it might as well been 3 million, I did not have the funds and I already had my cars I was working on (see new to me in 79) My buddy bought the complete DZ drivetrain including trans rear and leaf springs for I think $500 and put it in his 68 RS. I did the engine rebuild for him. Just thought I'd share about the Z in the basement.

A 429 Boss is a nice piece. What provoked the sale?

I could hardly drive the Boss 429. I had to sit sideways to work the clutch or my knee would get jammed between the steering wheel and door panel. No legroom at all. Calypso Coral and I think I sold it for 33K. It came from a pawn shop in Seattle. A guy with a trust fund would burn thru his yearly allowance, pawn stuff he bought and never come back for it. He had pawned a Shelby, The Boss and a Helicopter.

wow, what year was it that you bought/sold it?
I have a similar issue with my 65 fastback, my knee is right there on the door panel. I adjusted the stopper and pedal travel and it is better, but I am only 6'2 and have the seat all the way back. It makes me wonder how Carroll Shelby even got in one to take a spin around the track, I think he was at least 6'4. Mark Donahue and the other drivers who drove the 65 must have been like 5'8, any taller and shifting is not really as fluid. Now the 65 is a bit smaller car, the 69 on the other hand appears bigger (at least longer) than the 69 camaro, so I am surprised it was still an issue. Were guys that much shorter int he 60's?
In my 69 camaro I have the seat all the way back, but the car just fits me better, I don't have any issues with my knee when real easing the clutch.

No someone else got those. I actually went in halves on the Boss with a friend but when it got here I fell in love with it and bought his half from him. It ran great and just the opposite of what everyone else says. They are usually dogs off the line. This one fried the tires probably easier than any other stock musclecar I have ever owned.
