Late 69 (post August) muncie side cover

I cannot find anything addressing this question: I have an August 69 Muncie M20. It was originally installed in a Camaro. The side cover is a 3952648 used on 70 production. Where the solenoid would be located on the shift fork boss, this has that part in the casting, but it is not machined (drilled, tapped or milled).
My question: do late production 69 transmissions use this side cover or has it been replaced?

Late '69 Camaro Muncies used that blank boss side cover and they were NOT drilled and tapped.

My Canadian docs 06A Z28 has a 306” side cover with the blank boss, owned the car since 74. I know of a real late production 69  (10E) that has the 648 side cover with blank boss, Canadian docs also, guy has owned it for about 30 yrs.

I would like to see a picture of your '306 side cover with blank boss as I have never seen one. My 05E built Norwood car has a May stamped trans with the non-drilled and tapped '648 side cover.

You can not see the "306" number but here is the boss, Ive had a few side covers like this, very rare ,approx. 06A to 08D , 1969 ONLY.

Because I can see the side cover casting number, unfortunately my I phone will not photograph it, you will just have to take my word for it. Ive owned the car since 1974, 42,000 miles. Unmolested trans.

Just went and looked next door at the bosses 69 COPO, 05E car, Canadian docs RS Yellow/Yellow houndstooth it has a 306 side cover without the boss. He also has a documented L89 09A Camaro, but it has the "648" side cover.

I totally understand the '306 without the boss. I am just saying I have never seen a '306 with the boss. Must be super rare. Would just like to see a picture, as it probably will be the only one I will ever see and you should be proud to have it. I love learning about oddities in parts. Been doing this for over 40 years.

I get the the '648 without the drilled and tapped boss. The phase in was sometime in May regardless if it was a Camaro. The '69 Camaro never got a drilled and tapped '648 no matter how late production.

All other Chevrolets did get the drilled and tapped '648 for the beginning of the '70 model year.

306 side covers with the untapped boss are very Rare, I have been doing Muncies for over 50 years and been involved with 67-69 Camaro,s since they were new. Only seen a couple of the 306 covers with the boss, Ill try to get a picture for you Warren.
