Saginaw to Munci conversion
« on: March 28, 2019, 05:00:47 PM »
I still have the old Saginaw 4 speed with Hurst shifter running on a 355 with mild modifications.  The trans is worn out, and I’m considering switching to a M20.  Anyone know if it is a simple swap will only require a new Speedo cable and shift linkage?  I’m running 355 rear 12 bolt.
Thanks

Reverse rod, speedo cable, shifter mount on transmission, levers for shifter rod have a different part number, IIR? Not sure what the difference is. But I can compare them later when home. I’m going by memory as I am doing the same. This is if you want to keep a factory shifter in the same location coming out of tunnel. Reverse lockout is different, if that matters, and you want it to look factory?
I own both setups, both factory setups and can compare or take photos if needed. Shifter is the same and 1-2 & 3-4 rods are the same, IIR?
This is where an AIM comes in handy to compare part numbers. I suggest you invest in one if don’t have one.
