302 vacuum advance
« on: March 06, 2019, 11:31:34 PM »
I've been looking for a vacuum advance for my 68 302. A lot of obsolete numbers out there. Original should have a B-13 stamp, latest I read was a B-28 worked. The GM 1973437 went obsolete the 1116163 was used then replaced by 19138050. Are these will fits or will they work with a 302. Has anyone bought one from Ricks or Camaro Central and are they stamped with a Bxx? I went through a lot of threads and looking for something current.

I don't recognize B13, my original can is MS 400-15 (pic). While I was furiously cleaning the grease and grime to get to the number, I checked out my 480 (marked MS 201-15), while the 499 is MS 355-15. I hopefully assume correctly that they are originals - they showed no signs of disassembly prior to mine.

Not trying to confuse the request - there are still 1116313 units around for sale, pricing runs up and down. You might go aftermarket and be able to pick up the correct appearance and application for a lot less -

Steve

Thanks Steve,
Here is where the B13 came from.

I just want it to function like the original, that's why I asked about the ones from Ricks and Camaro Central.

Here's a 1116163 that's not unreasonable - some of the eBayers want a lot of money for this number:

I remember from some earlier threads on the CRG, there are several parts house options that not only look the way they're supposed to, but have the correct vacuum ranges. I'd start with NAPA -

The holy grail of vacuum cans, thanks for that.

Steve, bought that GM 163 off Ebay, they sent the wrong one twice finally said they don't have one and said to apply for refund but still have it listed. There is a used tested 400-15 but not sure because of it's age. Maybe I'll get that one or another 163 for $25 more.
