Power Steering Pump seal
« on: January 30, 2019, 02:43:43 PM »
I am in the process of restoring my power steering pump in my 69 Z. I need to replace a seal which is on the original pressure fitting coming out of the back of the pump. The fitting then attaches to the pressure hose routed to the steering gear. The seal is not quite an o ring, as it is wider than an o ring. Sort of the like a tire profile. I'm attaching a pic of the fitting. Note that the fitting I'm referring to is the one on the bottom in the pic (gray/steel colored). The top fitting (brass colored) is a new one and has a female end. The original fitting has a male end. Can anyone identify the seal? (black in color)

It's an O-ring, just flattened out after 50 years of use.

Yep, that's just an o-ring that has flattened over time.
