69 Z/28 built in LOS
« on: December 29, 2007, 01:52:14 AM »
I just bought a 1969 with all the options a Z/28 would have.  But because it was built in VN is there any way from the VIN number that I can verify it is a true Z/28? or any other way?

The VIN will tell you nothing as far as if it is a true Z/28. The build sheet, if still above the fuel tank, will. If the engine is original it would have the partial VIN stamped on it. Any other documantation from the dealer or previous owners. Everything else is just looking for clues. Is the paint in the door jambs original? Look for the 15"x7" tire sticker. Also Jerry MacNeish may be able to do a verification for you.

Lemans Blue X33. DZ, M20, manual steering. Only BU code rear end is original.

Where would the build sheet be located, above the gas tank in between the trunk and the tank?  The engine is not the original but is a 302.  And there is no tire stickers.  The car has been repainted, it was originally cortez silver with black stripes.  The previous owners have no other documentation.  I guess I am out of luck for now.  thank you for your help.  I will keep hunting.
