WHAT WOULD BE THE CORRECT AIR CLEANER FOR A 69 CAMARO L35 WITHOUT A/C AND A AUTOMATIC ALSO SHOULD IT HAVE CHROME OR PAINTED VALVE COVERS  THANKS

I'm terribly confused now! (imagine that!)

I began reading through the other thread that Mike referenced and everyone began responding regarding their air tube/hose/elbow and so forth. When I purchased my car, it had an open element air cleaner with a base that did NOT have the air tube/hose/elbow, along with a simple breather cap.

I assumed that to be the original as it had the chrome lid and looked just like the breather setup on AIM L35, A8. All that was missing was the 396 Turbo Jet 325 hp decals. I understood this to be the baseline air cleaner breather setup. All the air tube, hose and elbow components are part of the breather setup on K24, A3 which I thought was an optional breather system.

SO which is correct? Both? Which was the STANDARD setup? L35, A8 or the K24, A3?

Which year?  I believe they were discussing 69s and you have a 67?  Emission standards changed in 68 model year.

Good call, Pete. I was asking which would be correct for my car, a '67. I'll admit, I got a bit nervous that I had made an expensive mistake in the restoration process of the car. I wasn't consciously trying to hijack the thread. My emotions took over and I forgot the year that the discussion based upon. Again, good call. And I apologize for any confusion I may have caused.

Buzz,
I can tell you that both my 67 L35's.... 04B LOS MZ motor w/K19 smog pump and the 05B NOR MW motor w/K24 have the black lid, open element cleaner with the base that has the valve cover vent hose attached. I have seen other original 67's with just the breather cap in the valve cover so I assume you can have either setup depending how it was ordered originally.  The black lid was used until the 67 April/May time frame before changing to chrome.
Now....do you have the correct flat-top PCV valve?  ;)

Funny you should ask! I just very recently purchased a NOS AC Delco CV736C pcv. I understood that was the correct valve. I'm not sure what you mean by "flat-top" valve. Educate me, please.

Thanks,

That valve may be an updated replacement you have but the original is a CV691C for the 396/325 HP
Replacements have a protrusion above the crimp line where as the original is flat...hence the word 'flat-top'.

I see. Mine protrudes above the crimp line. Thanks for the education!

Paragon sells the silver coated cork gaskets. You can probably take a set of cork gaskets and spray silver engine enamel on the exposed tabs for the effect.
