Trying to find 69Z 124379N621880
« on: September 06, 2018, 02:20:31 AM »
Assisting car friend acquaintance (Dan) to find the 69 Z/28 with vin 124379N621880. It was sold several times during 2017 so this Z/28 with aforementioned vin exists. Looking for any help in finding and contacting the current owner due to Dan having the original block which he recently added to the CRG orphan list. The block is factory stamped with partial vin “19N621880” and DZ engine assembled March 19, 1969.
This Z/28 is Burnished Brown, White vinyl roof and stripes with white vinyl interior and was advertised with a recent restoration when it was sold at an auction last year.
Believe last known sales was at St Louis Car Museum And Sales, lot # RST-714704. Thanks in advance for any possible assistance.  The only goal here is to earnestly try to get the engine back with the Z/28 it was born with.

Hope you can connect the two Chick - that should make the new owner's decade.
Dan sounds like a standup guy.

Agree Tim! Dan just acquired the block among a bunch of parts from the passing of his father-in-law along with a 68 Z/28 I was helping him review. He was just trying to find out what he had and since I was in the area helping family I went over to review the 68Z and that DZ block. Car had several owners last year as it sold at Mecum Harrisburg and a month later at another auction. Here is a picture of the vin stamping.

One of the members here has a BB car. When he chimes in bet he knows. I have been leaning to "different" color combos lately myself which that car is.

Looks like when it sold at Mecum last year it was listed as "Matching numbers 302 engine".  I wonder if the current owner thinks it already has its original factory engine?

Matching numbers means a lot of different things today. One thing it doesn't always mean is that it is the "born with" engine...Joe

Here's the listing from the St. Louis sale.  Finding out someone else has the actual factory engine may be bittersweet information for the current owner.

Under the hood resides the original DZ-code 302ci V8 proving 290 factory rated horsepower

Several things wrong on the car and someone got carried away with the ok stamp. Block obvious restamp.

Bill, did I ever think of the same thing! Geez, just about everything has the stamp and thought of what JohnZ said along time ago concerning "Restoration Graffiti."

I have seen a similar car advertised for sale within the last 2 weeks.  It may have been on Autotrader Classics, Hemmings, or maybe eBay.  Good luck finding the car.
