Anyone use a go-cam?
« on: October 09, 2018, 02:21:23 PM »
Does anyone use a go-cam in their car? I'm looking at getting one but see so many out there.
Nothing special.....just a low profile windshield mounted camera for the '67 for things like cruising.

Thanks!

Costco COBRA $80 cheap  but not so out there in that no support or crazy impossible to understand instructions yet NOT go-pro expensive.

By go-cam, do you mean a go-pro?

We use the go pro quite a bit for cruising, dragstrip etc...

Okay, yeah I think we're talking about the same thing, just has different names.

We bought ours at Costco.  About $350.  But we've used it in many different applications, off roading, cruises in the cars, drag racing.  Been a pretty handy little thing.  Fits in the palm of your hand, not very big.  I'm not that up on technology but this was pretty easy to figure out.
Here are some short videos we shot with it driving different cars.

Thanks for the replies all......it gives me a starting point.
The videos were interesting! In the 3rd video at the track, did you smoke the other car or did he suddenly let up on the throttle.

Thanks!

Just drove around him.  He was a mid 12 second car.  The goat has gone 10.70's at 128 mph in full street trim.  On this pass, we were making easy shake down passes feeling the car out.  Came out very easy and didn't go full throttle until 2nd gear and then ran it out the back door.  Also couldn't seem to stay off the rev limiter as you can hear in the video, lol.  I can't see that darn hood tach for the life of me.

Considering the track staff had to remind you of 'wheel speed'.....you did damn good!  ;)

I have one in my work vehicle, records to a micro SD card on a continuous loop of about 72-hours. The recorded data includes exact location coordinates and vehicle speed by GPS, so it could be used as evidence (for and against) in the event of an accident - however being totally honest, my driving style in that vehicle reflects my awareness it's capturing everything I do, so I probably 'behave' better than if it weren't there....
You can also override the automatic recording loop to capture a particular event that you want to keep footage of, and it also provides a 'kml' output file to Google Earth that allows you to plot your travel movements, can be really useful if you need a reminder exactly where you saw that interesting car stashed behind an old barn!

I wound up buying the Apeman C450A camera for $43.00 on Amazon.
I was surprised how small (3 1/4" x 1 3/4") and light this is and the 1920x1080 resolution looks great even when I view the video on a large screen.

I have the Garmin Dash Cam 55 Plus in my car. It's worth the price.
