Battery Restoration Company?
« on: June 15, 2018, 06:24:35 PM »
Who do we know that can restore an AC Delco Y55. I know they say to drain the battery, die cut the bottom off, strip the battery guts, install a Chevy Monza battery, glue bottom back on.. Is there a company that does this?.. Danny

I know of no companies per se that offer that service. There have been a couple articles over the years in car magazines on the how to's which seemed to come from NCRS members. That is how I first heard of the process, from a NCRS mostly 67 judge. It's messy per my friend who completed the operation. Danny, the bottom is not glued back in place.

I've done this a few times.  A few of "my batteries" are in certified Camaros & Novas.

Basically gutting them is the hardest and the most unsafe thing to do....once that's done, the rest is relative based on your mechanical skill level / determination.

I use Odessey batteries (PC 925) to place inside.

Due to safety reasons, I really wont go into further detail about doing this type of restoration.

There is no bottom to reinstall.

Chick, you are the one that taught me about this in 2015. I feel I surely have the mechanical ability, but frankly am a little scared to take this on.. Camaronut, since you have done this several times, can I pay you to perform this task??.. ;) Danny
