William - A former colleague of mine used to race a '68 Z car around the Detroit Metro area as a kid.  He preferred a 4.10/M20 combination for street duty.  Odd that it was cancelled, other than warranty as you stated.  Thanks again for the information.

Hey Jim!
I live in Northridge CA about 10 miles from where you lived in Sepulveda CA! I have a buddy who is a Vin Verifier In CA  he said the only way he could check it is with License Plate & Vin number!
I gave him both and he said no record of the car in CA which means either it was sold and went out of state or someone put new style plates on and could still be in CA I Tried! Tks Bill

That's from many years of letter writing, phone calls & dead ends chasing ZL1s & Yenkos years ago when it was easy. I found title records for cars that no longer existed, missed cars that still existed but had not been registered for many years. Very common for guys to buy cars and never title them. The ZL1 we ended up with was on an open title; he remembered who he sold it to. A lot can happen in 49 years.

Your only real shot is finding someone that can do an NCIC search. That might give you the last state it was registered in. If they have no record, it was scrapped or hasn't been registered in many years.
