GT stamps
« on: November 25, 2017, 11:12:59 PM »
I was stripping the paint off of my spark plug towers and noticed it's stamped GT in very small letters? I know the alt bracket has the GT.   Is this common? Is there a company GT that makes brackets for GM back then?

Spark plug towers? Do you mean spark plug stands, (that hold and separate the wires)?

Chris, I notice the very same markings on mine just recently when I glass Beaded them. I could not see it prior to blasting cause of the corrosion and peeling paint. I looked for a photo prior to paint and could not find one, I recall it was very faint. They were shallow and crisp just not very deep. I think others here might know the supplier it "stands" (Identifies) for (?).  I just checked the parts bag and the stamps are on the outboard side, low towards the mounting hoels, and very very faint, the primer and orange has basically filled it in. (GT)

Well, here are mine from a LA 12/D 68Z28 Glass Bead Blasted and pitted from rust, kind of faint but I think you can make it out? As soon as I primed and painted them, the stamping was lost as the primer and paint filled the stampings instantly.
