69 Z-28 Survivor
« on: February 19, 2018, 02:01:52 PM »
My customer just purchased a 69 Z-28 that sat for 30+ years . before getting it to run I dropped the gas tank and found writing on top . Does anyone know what it means ? The fuel lines still had the original tags on them so I'm pretty sure its never been replaced .
Thanks for any help !!

Looks like it reads 8 extra written vertically, but why?

Mine had similar writing in Red as well, but mine was all numbers. I think I found the 487 written on something else in the interior, but can't remember what off the top of my head.

First came to mind was that Canadian-delivered cars got extra fuel. Then I figured there would be no sense noting that on top of the tank, couldn't be seen once installed so of no help to assembly line workers......

My customer just purchased it from the original family . The owner purchased it as a leftover in 1970 after he returned from Vietnam . So far all numbers match , It was stored for approximately 30 years both in and out of a garage .

Maybe it had something to do with 8 EXTRA tanks strapped to a skid going to the assembly plant.
