Typical dealer. Has about a million words about his business, but only 19 about the actual car!!

So they made 357'646 bodies?

The Norwood plant assembled 211,921 Camaros in 1969 starting with VIN 500001 and going to 711922. However, Fisher Body numbering started around 100k and went up to a little above 370k, then was reset back to 100k in September of 1969, but a lot of those body numbers were actually never used.

However, that's not the problem with that particular trim tag. There are other GLARING issues.

Nope. For '69 orders for both plants were routed through Central Office. When the dealer order was confirmed, a tracking number was assigned; that's the number on the tag. However, many orders were later determined to contain errors, specify options no longer available or were simply cancelled by the customer or the dealer. In his book, John De Lorean stated dealers typically ordered far more cars than they could build. Chevrolet cancelled many orders due to capacity constraints.

Based on the numbers, almost 100,000 '69 Camaro orders were cancelled.
