I am not convinced that the stamps are genuine.

The VIn would correspond to around the 9-10th of Feb; only 2-3 weeks behind the trans.  Is this 'typical'?  The Transmission and the stamps are *very clean* and sharp... Does this raise your antenna?

Anybody else think they look a little heavy on the strike?

Assembly/date code font does not look real good to me.

Yes, they do look 'heavy' on the strike, but I'm not sure that alone is reason enough to discredit the originality of the transmission stamping..?

Wouldn't necessarily scare me Gary, especially being soft aluminum.  I have a muncie here that has been in our possession since 1972, long before people cared about numbers,  and it's also heavy on the strike.

You are right.. My partial trans stamp has the 'leading 1' before the 9...   Was the Muncie stamping totally consistent in this regards??  or are there 'known' original deviations from this practice?

I prefer to not discuss inconsistencies in an open forum. But it's a free country.
