Clutch pressure plate and disc

Hello, Today I was cleaning up my 68 z/28 original pressure plate and disc. I noticed some paint code on the pp, looked like B-2. Is that the line code installer? The pp is a Bork & Beck finger style model 1506. Also the clutch disc stamping is Perfection American Inc., Arlington SC and has 101003 and 10000A stamped on it. Any info on this would be appreciated.

The Z28 never came from the factory with a Borg and Beck 3 finger style pressure plate. They all came with a Diaphragm style, 10.5" in diameter, with Borg and Beck being one of the suppliers.

The model 1506 is a Borg and Beck 3 finger style pressure plate manufactured for Chrysler back in the 1950's and 1960's (and probably the 1970's), but was also manufactured by several aftermarket companies (i.e. Hays, McLeod, etc...) as a replacement for any engine using a 10.5" clutch.

I don't know anything about Perfection American (although there IS a company called Perfection Gear Company in Harvey Ill), so I can't say if it's original. They "may" have supplied discs to Borg and Beck in the 1960's but I just don't know.

The 1964 CHRYSLER SERVICE MANUAL has a section (section 6) on the MODEL 1506 CLUTCH (used on the Chrysler 361 engine), but really, Google is your friend regarding the Borg and Beck 3 finger clutch.

GM used this clutch until 1963 on a bizillion cars, and the aftermarket has sold (and continues to sell) another bizillion of these, so they're good clutches. They have a harder pedal (which is why GM went to the diaphram style), but if you talk to guys that raced in the 50's, 60's and 70's, a lot of them used the 3 finger clutch. Heck, I even had one on a 67 Camaro I had 40 some odd years ago. It was mated to a Hays aluminum flywheel and you really had to spin the engine to leave the line!! I had to get rid of it when I got married because the wife couldn't push the clutch pedal down!!!

But I digress.

What was the original pressure plate part #.

I don't know the original factory "assembly" part number (clutch, pressure plate, throw-out bearing and flywheel), but the service part number for the pressure plate itself was 3841673. It was used on millions of cars from 1963 through the late 1970's.
