Documentation

I own a 1969 Z28, VIN124379N684690. I have obtained NCRS shipping data establishing that the car was delivered to a since closed dealership in Utah. That dealership was purchased by a large, currently operational Chevrolet Dealership, however, the dealership informs me that there are no sales records available from the original selling/delivering dealership.
I have also established that my Z28 was sold at the 2004 Palm Beach Barrett Jackson Auction as Lot #676.1
I have written Barrett Jackson on three occasions requesting information on the sale. I have received no response.
The car is also featured on a U-Tube video titled "Sharkeys Z28". I purchased the car in 2014 from an individual in Wisconsin who purchased it from "Sharkeys Car Sales" in 2009. I find no current information on that company.
Any advice on further documenting the car is greatly appreciated.

Hey welcome to the sight.

Many of us feel your frustration in tracking down the history, some people are very helpful, while many could care less in helping you.

I would suggest you add some pictures to this post, along with all the known history of the car. See the past auction pics or current pics may jog someones memory. Also post a pic of the firewall tag, and if it is the original color or what colors it has been, along with the drive train. If it is missing a piece (motor, trans, rear end), you never know the person that may have it, may have more history on the car.

 good luck! :)

You may never find more. I have 2 69,s that I have backtracked for years Although I found several previus owners it always came to dead end mostly in the 70,s when they were just used cars. My Z I got all the way to 77 and talked the fellow but he cannot remember where or who he got from. My SS I even found a fellow who knew and had raced the guy the  that owned it. He said he recalled it like it was yesterday. But he cannot recall the name. Keep looking but there is no real way.

Welcome to the best site for original Camaros, rlafash.

Is this the video::   https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kcPowCT8vQk

Only one I could find labeled Sharkey's Z28.. :)

Beautiful car..  but wish the videographer had been a bit better.. :)

We'd love to see more photos...  based on your VIN, your Z28 was produced a couple of days prior to mine in mid Sept 1969...

I would contact Barrett-Jackson and imply you may be interested in selling your car at their auction. Bet they will call you back quickly. Then you can inquire about the history etc in order to have a well documented car for them to sell.

Good luck.

My computer skills leave a bit to be desired, however, I will do my best to answer those who have offered advice.
1) Car is numbers matching, engine block, heads, carburetor, distributor, transmission and rear
2) 100,100 documented original miles
3) Daytona Yellow/Black Vinyl Top/Yellow Hounds Tooth Interior all correct per cowl tag
4) The YouTube video cited is of my car
I found that the restorer, whoever it was, installed the wrong grill and headlight bezels. I am in the process of installing the correct color argent ones.
My attempt to add photos is not being allowed. The files are too large. Any suggestions on how to make them acceptable?

Welcome to CRG.  Nice looking Z you have.  Always liked the yellow plus an enduro bumper.  Looks like your in south Florida with that canal, palm and palmetto grass.   ;D

William, your prior 'halloween' car was also a Sept '69 car.   I believe I've seen documentation that the special *bright* color houndstooth interiors (orange and yellow) were mid-year or late year additions to the option list in order to pep up sales (maybe for the extended portion of the sales year?)..  Do you know the date that the orange/yellow houndstooth options were added?  or maybe the date of the first such cars??

Yellow & orange hound's-tooth were added to rev 1 of the showroom brochure. There was also mention of it in a dealer brochure dated February '69. So technically February '69 but I suspect orange was not immediately available in a coupe. Our db has several yellow interiors in February/March cars but no orange in coupes.

I had two orange/orange Z/28s. Other one was a JL8 car from Dale Chevrolet. Dale also had a yellow/black vinyl yellow hound's-tooth JL8 Z/28-RS. One of the most memorable '69s I have seen.
