red on red 69 Z at mecum

I read the EO car was going to be there so I thought I would look the cars over. I ran across this one.
It says its mostly original paint but sure has alot of shine. I also thought it looked to be fluffed quite a bit under the hood. PBT of both colors, crayon on the fiewall. Its alot of red

Hey that's pretty sharp red red red. Maybe needs a red endura bumper. 

I have this chalk mark, but its no where near as noticeable. Took me 15 years to figure out it said RED.

In the originality section, can we have a firewall overspray discussion?

  I  noticed the heater box cover speed nuts look to be silver zinc? I have always thought they were dark phosphate.

I noticed some more oddities on this car today. white stripped cars have the white on the cowl to the firewall. where black stripped cars different? this car has no black on cowl.

Looks completely restored with lots of reproduction parts. If the engine compartment and interior are any indication I'd be surprised if the paint was original.

Zinc isn't correct at least for 67 & 8 and pretty sure 9..

Restored or aftermarket parts regardless, I kind of like it anyway.  Refreshing to see one with a flat hood, no spoilers, no console and no gauges.

On the firewall,, I don't recall seeing originals like that with body color up there, plus that looks too neatly done anyway, like it's been masked.
    Mine being frost green with black stripes hasn't been tinkered with in that area.  The top of my cowl is black and appears to me to be more of a gloss black, then it transitions to semi gloss as it makes the turn down to the firewall itself.  To be sure I'll have to clean that area thoroughly so I can't be certain of it just yet but first appearance looks to me like 2 different blacks, could be an illusion of 30 years of dirt though.   Remnants of the PBT stamps are still visible as well, in orange.

This does look like a nice car, just doesnt look as original as the description leads you to believe.

Is that shiftboot the way its supposed to look? I've had repro and i have an original which look almost identical, and they both sit down farther on the shifter. I suppose it could be pulled up that way, I've never tried. Sure would help keeping the crumbs out.

I also like the no spolier/flat hood look to this car, refreshing.

Well it is "re-sale red" so I think it will generate a lot of interest, not so sure about there pre-sale estimate though.

"This all-business Z28 wears most of its original Garnet Red paint and red interior " - I'm not sure that's the original interior. The very little I can see of the driver seat in two pics show some puckering along the sides and not-so-straight lines.

My seats were recovered because they were trashed and cut, I didn't have a choice. I don't know how hard this job is, but having seen some expensive cars with messy seats I am super happy my guy did a great job.

Good to know Bill, thanks.  My eye's aren't deceiving me then, lol.

I knew the factory would spray that area white when white stripes were ordered, and it was a pretty quick and dirty type of job.  I wasn't sure if they did that with black stripes but from what I can see on mine, it sure looks like they did.

I have seen different variations on red cars, from black leading on the cowl all the way to the firewall to red leading to the edge of the firewall (which I posted a pic of one the new  Originality thread)  This the first one I have seen with that much red going over and down the firewall.

It does look very glossy, not much patina.
