Looking for and old friend
« on: October 18, 2005, 05:48:11 PM »
Hi, I was directed to this site by Jerry MacNeish.  I'm trying to locate my 1969 Z/28 that I restored back in 1984-85  and sold in 1988 at Carlisle to Dixie Motors Billy Cones a car dealer in Virginia. He sold it at Auction 2 years later to Beach Auto in Virginia who sold it to a police officer in Viginia Beach . Jerry suggested I might try posting the information on this site and someone might know or own the car. I have all the restoration photos, VHS tape of completed car, All numbers cataloged and previous title copy and ICCA trophies for this car. I purchased this very original Daytona Yellow w/ Black/white houndstooth interior in 1984 and proceeded  a 10 month rotisserie restoration. I have collected vintage Corvettes for 26 years and the restoration was a NCRS Top Flight equivalent of today's standards. This car was fully documented with POP, owner history including my purchase bill of sale and maintance log book. I showed the car only once at the 1986 ICCA Camaro Nationals in Pocono, PA and cleaned up.  Best stock Z/28, Best Restoration and Best engine. The Judges and the people couldn't stay away from this car. This car was also featured in Muscle car magazine as a shootout car against the new Z/28 at Raceway Park in Englishtown.
Here is all the infomation on the car.

Car was sold new at East Side Chevrolet stamped on Protecto Plate book.  The Owners manual bag has a P-783 number written on it.

David, nice talking to you.  You might want to post the question (tag team in Team Camaro) about the AIR manifolds on a 396/350 auto car.  The rule I mentioned might only be for smallblocks.
