After using a razor blade, wire brush, Scotchbrite, and solvent to get the old headliner glue off of all my galvanized headliner mounting strips, there are some areas where the galvanized coating is worn through and bare metal is showing.
Before I put them back in, I want to protect them so they don't rust . I was thinking about spraying them with SEM self etch primer or some Rustoleum Cold Galvanizing Compound (both from an aerosol can). But then I starting thinking about the glue when a new headliner goes in and if it would be compatible with either of those coatings. That the glue might dissolve the paint and not adhere.
I looking for any opinions or suggestions on that.
