on-guard keyhole car alarm, maybe dealer option?

I have a 1969 camaro SS purchased from HC Boyer Chevrolet in PA. 12 years ago in my zeal to rid the car of items I thought were not original, I took off the dash mounted GM tach and a car alarm. Sadly I threw away that junky little tach, which I've discovered was a dealer option. But I did keep the car alarm. I am curious if anyone has seen one of these, can provide any guidance on how to rewire it, or anyone who could recondition it? I want to put it back on the car, even if it wasn't a dealer option I still think its pretty cool.

Adding a picture of a hood switch that's missing wiring and looks a little out of place. Maybe the car alarm was only a hood alarm?

Although I don't know how to wire it to the keyhole, testing it to ground and battery this thing wails like a tornado siren!

I don't find anything about alarms as possible dealer installed options. How do shows and judges feel about period parts installed?

Alarms and high end audio systems were often dealer installed or packaged. I had several friends in the late 70's early 80's that had the fender mounted alarm switches, some keys, some a barrel key. Some had a flip top to protect the slot from the weather as here in New England lock freeze all the time in winter. They were simple. Arm the system with the key, then if you opened the doors or the hood it went off. Wiring it back up shouldn't be hard. Did you have two extra door jam switches or was it piggybacked off the existing?

Yes, I did some more digging on this after my post. I found one on EBAY and purchased it, looks just like the one on your picture. Has all the original hardware and wiring. It was cheaper than I could recondition my original ON-GUARD siren, plus benefits of new hardware and the actual instructions. The only difference was the end of the unit, mine had a baffle rather than the chrome horn shape. When I installed it yesterday into the original position/same holes below the voltage regulator, I replaced the new horn end with my original baffle. The rest of the unit was exactly the same, in fact my baffle attached onto the base in the same holes and screws. The new chrome horn wouldn't fit without touching the radiator because it was too long.

I have the extra door jamb switches, so it should be easy to rewire. Project still underway. The keyhole is a little different, and the keys are a newer style than my original, but the original keyhole had the tabs broken off the back.

If anyone is interested I can post pics when I finish installing it.

Yes please. Mine had one on it but the previous owner removed the siren. Key cylinder and the switches remain.

The siren is installed and connected to the switch on the hood. I have an idea how I want to route the wiring for this, similar to the instructions (picture attached). The bullet terminals are too small to join these thick wires. From the hood switch I need to do some solder and heat shrink to make the connections for the remaining switches.

For now, at least no one will be stealing my engine...

Project complete. I've tested it a few times and the neighbors probably aren't very happy. I don't think anyone will be stealing this car...

My 64 Corvette had the remains of a system. Door switches still there, Hole for hood switch still there And I too remember seeing the fender mount switches years ago.

Very nice. Sometimes the old school stuff works better because of the lack of sophisticated electronics.
