Camaro Vs. Firebird = what is compatible?
« on: July 14, 2015, 03:56:42 AM »
Hey guys still looking for a 1969 non spoiler deck lid for a friend, and think I may have found one. It is off of a 1969 Firebird though:
There are no emblem holes present, and in looking at the underside it looks like it has the provision for the Camaro emblem.

So does anyone know a issue with running a deck lid from a firebird? What other differences am I missing?

thanks

If I'm not mistaken, at a certain point in 69 they were identical. That's why my version (3rd?) has the holes cut out of the underside to allow for the Firebird spoiler. There is a very good thread out here on CRG that discusses it in detail. http://www.camaros.org/forum/index.php?topic=12390.0

When production of the Firebird moved from Lordstown in early 69 I understand as much as could be made universal was done so on the line to make assembly run smoothly on both sides of the plant - Fisher & Chevrolet.
